Child Safety Seat Program

In a car crash, children are at the greatest risk of serious injury or death.

Jackson County Public Health offers free car seat checks to parents, grandparents, and caregivers who use child safety seats. In addition, income-eligible families in Jackson County are able to receive a free car seat to help keep their child safe.

Properly installed child safety seats save lives. However, they can be complicated to install and mistakes are common. That's why Public Health offers one on one appointments by specially trained Car Seat Technicians.   They will provide an inspection of the seat, ensure it is installed correctly, and make sure that the child fits the seat. You can also have your older child's seat belt checked for correct fit.
